So you think you want a tattoo.

Well over the pages on Tattisfaction hopefully you can find out enough about tattoos, tattooing and yourself to decide whether you do indeed want a tattoo or if you're just "going through a phase".
If you're here you have doubts. Maybe you're frightened of pain, scared you'll get the wrong thing, clueless about finding the right artist or maybe you're worried about what other people will think. Whatever your concern is, there should be a page here for you and once you've read it hopefully you'll be better informed so that you can make the right choice. To tattoo or not tattoo...that is the question.

To tattoo or not tattoo...that is the question.
What are you worried about?
Pain
You've seen a million tattoos, you've spoken to people with them, you want one, you'd love one but... you've heard it feels like a million injections all at once or was it the sensation of being stabbed with a rusty nail that put you off? The there are the people who tell you it doesn't hurt at all...if it hurts you are you a wuss? If I wince will the people in the tattoo shop laugh at you? What if you cry? What if you faint?
What if...? What if...? What if...?
What if it isn't so bad? Read my "No Pain, No Gain" page and find out what's true and what's not.

Regret
Have you heard the story about the guy who got his girlfriend's name tattooed on his arm three weeks after meeting her? Or the girl with "Horny Devil" tattooed across the base of her back? Then there's the young man who got his favourite footballer tattooed on his leg just before he got sold. There's any number of people who will tell you that you are 100% going to regret your tattoo sooner or later by reading "A Life of Regret?" you can find out how to avoid the regrettable tattoo.
Needles!...You really don't like needles.
So, you passed out giving a blood sample, you've been terrified of needles ever since your mum accidentally stabbed you in the leg doing a quick repair on your trousers or perhaps you'd rather get tetanus than have a vaccination. Whatever it is, you just don't like needles. Well, until they find a way to tattoo by magic there are going to be needles involved. Take a look at "I Don't Do Needles" and find out whether you can handle what a tattooist and their needles will dish out.
Whatever will people think?
Are you worried about old ladies scuttling away from you in case you mug them? Not sure you want the local priest to perform an exorcism on you? Will people think you have more money than sense? What will people think of you? Do you care? "The Ignorance of Others" comes with the turf, so is it for you?
My dad will kill me, I'll go to hell, it's expensive...
Maybe it's not needles or pain, it's not regret and it's not small minded people putting you off. Maybe it's something else. Well, "I Wanna Do It, But..." addresses some of those other concerns. It may help, it may not but it may comfort you to know that whatever it is you aren't the first to feel it and you won't be the last.
In Conclusion
Whatever it is that's stopping you from taking the plunge, I hope you find your answers on one of these pages. In saying that, I'm not trying to convince you that you should do it, merely that if you do do it make sure you do it for the right reasons. A tattoo is for life (unless you want to spend a fortune on laser treatments) it's supposed to be a difficult decision. Whatever you decide, whether it's to get tattooed or to walk away and forget about it, get it right and good luck.
